Agency: Ten35

Creative Director: Andrew Weigl

Lead Designer: Sam Baliga

Designer: Annie Lee Carroll

Annie served as the lead designer for the City of Chicago's Cycle Breakers initiative, spearheaded by the Community Safety Coordination Center (CSCC). Cycle Breakers aims to foster a safer, healthier Chicago by working with local organizations and residents to expand community safety efforts, promote healing, connect youth and adults to resources, and bridge generational gaps.

In this role, Annie developed logos and created over 100 asset variations using Spike VTC typography by VocalType, with a focus on thoughtful, intentional design. Each piece fell into one of three categories—youth, caregiver, or community—and was produced in both English and Spanish. This work included custom hand-drawn street signs for each of the 15 launch neighborhoods and assets that appeared across buses, billboards, newspapers, social media, web banners, T-shirts, backdrops, and more.

This year-long project involved extensive community engagement, including focus groups, collaboration with the Mayor’s Office and the Mayor’s Youth Commission, and rounds of creative refinement. Cycle Breakers launched on July 9, 2024, with a kickoff event at the Chicago Cultural Center, in partnership with My Chi My Future, Play Streets, and 211 Metro Chicago.
